i2O, the smart water network solutions company, announced today that it has appointed Patricio Orozco as its new sales director for South America. Patricio, who has 30 years’ experience working on water asset management, non-revenue water and network improvement initiatives around the world, joins i2O to accelerate adoption of its smart water network technologies amongst water utilities in Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and Mexico.
Patricio spent several years at the beginning of his career in engineering roles for Severn Trent Water in the UK and at its operations in Mexico, Venezuela and Colombia. Since then he has led business development efforts for several large-scale suppliers to the water industry, working in Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. He joins i2O from Biwater International.
Patricio’s appointment comes at a time of expansion for i2O in South America. i2O already works with clients in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, and was selected by Esval-Aguas del Valle, the organisation responsible for supplying water across the Chilean regions of Valparaiso and Coquimbo, to measure and monitor the performance of its supply network. In January, i2O announced that it has increased the size of its technical team to provide local support from its office in Colombia.
Patricio Orozco, comments: “Water companies across South America are challenged by population growth, water shortages, high levels of leakage and ageing infrastructure. i2O’s smart water network solutions enable water utilities to meet these challenges in a cost-effective way. They represent the smarter future of our industry and I am excited to help water utilities in South America use them to improve their performance and service to customers.”
Joel Hagan, CEO of i2O, comments: “Many of the challenges facing water companies in South America are not unique, but they are particularly acute here and i2O’s smart water solutions are already helping many water utilities with their challenges in the region.”
